Taoist paradoxical breathing. Exercise "Entering Peace." About the correct breathing mode and the main principles of breathing practice

64 breaths.

Classic shape Taoist exercise“64 Breaths” is intended for general rejuvenation of the body by eliminating energy and physical stagnation, to eliminate the effects of an aggressive environment. In addition, the complex develops the skills to control the internal energy of qi using breathing.

The main, basic form is performed in the morning, while still lying in bed, before the qi changes.
Note:
The morning change of qi consists of going to the window overlooking a beautiful garden, opening it and breathing in the fresh air with pleasure. This sip opens up your lungs, revitalizes your entire body, and life begins anew. If your window overlooks the international highway, you will have to refrain from the physical morning break - just imagine that life-giving breath.

The complex is based on breathing through biologically active zones of the body. These zones were found empirically, and their position is not directly related to the meridians. Although for some zones guidelines are given in the form of the nearest acupuncture points, you should work with areas of the body whose final boundaries you determine yourself. The zone can be very small or reach the size of a large apple, its size can vary depending on your condition, the time of year, your sensitivity, etc., sometimes the zone can even move beyond the surface of the skin, and the performer feels the body over the body. In this case, breathing is carried out both through the zone and through its projection. The sequence of transition through zones is very important, and it should not be violated.

Completely all 64 breathing forms are performed by beginners once every 5-7 days, and then, with increasing skill, depending on need. In tradition, such exercises were performed after 40 years, but the ecology of ancient China is far from the current one, environmental circumstances have changed greatly, and today it is recommended that both Chinese and Europeans perform the form starting from the age of 30

In addition to performing it approximately once a week, the complex has a daily incarnation: once a day for 64 days you work out one point of the form, and not necessarily in the morning. As a result, in 64 days you will consistently work through all 64 zones in more detail. After this, a 64-day break is taken in this type of exercise.

This approach is typical for many Taoist techniques, for example, “dragon tail” tao is performed both standing and lying down - that is, you approach the same exercise in different planes for better development.

There is also a third time rhythm for performing the complex, which will allow you not only to activate the passage of energy, but also to focus on areas of stagnation. While performing the form completely, you may find that some point does not respond quite adequately to the exercise - you feel stagnation, cold, gripping or wetness, or you cannot concentrate on this area at all, you do not feel it. Then it’s worth working with it additionally, several times a day or on the 2nd - 6th days between weekly performances, without changing the basic rhythm. During this additional work, you can influence the stagnant zone not only with breathing, but also with warming, massage or fingering, creating some kind of energy structure in the form of a ball that nourishes, warms, and protects the zone. You can also supplement the form with exhalation, imagining how the energy of exhalation warms, heals, and saturates the zone.

Remember that if breathing exercises are performed incorrectly, problems may occur in your body, primarily due to disruption of the natural rhythm of breathing, as well as due to overload of the breathing apparatus. Yoga even has the concept of pranayama diseases, which entail changes in pressure, muscle spasms in the ribs, even nervous disorders and psychoses. Follow respiratory complexes carefully, carefully listening to your own feelings. Be sure to focus on painful areas, but do not forget about a reasonable dosage, do not try to overcome your problems immediately.

And now a few words about breathing variations:

1. Inhale through the zone with concentration on the zone itself, exhale through parted lips. Teeth touching.
2. The same, but without contact of teeth.
3. The same, but exhale through a curled tongue and protruding from the mouth.
4. The same, but with the breath being brought into the Dan Tien. In this case, two “guards” (points of attention) are placed, exercising control over the process of inhalation into the zone and the process of bringing inhalation into the tan-tian. Exhalations are varied - through the mouth, nose, nose and mouth at the same time.
5. The same as in step 4, but with exhalation into the Dan Tien. At the same time, imagine that the exhalation twists into a self-condensing spiral and is completely absorbed by the tan-tian body.
6. Inhale through the zone, exhale through the zone.
7. The same as in paragraph 6, but with the drive of energy into the tan-tian.
8. The same as in paragraphs 6, 7, but with the representation of a certain spherical energy structure outside the body above the activated zone. In this case, the zone can be saturated with energy due to preliminary manipulations with the hands such as “opening and closing”, fingers, internal representation, or even warmed up with a wormwood cigarette or a burning candle flame. The optimal distance of an imaginary object from the body is the length of the palm.
Of course, there are many other variations of breathing, but those mentioned are quite sufficient for long and fruitful work on rejuvenating the body. For more information please visit the website.
And further. If necessary, you can vary the duration and intensity of inhalation or exhalation according to your sensations, and also help concentrate on the zone by tensing or relaxing the corresponding muscle groups, which will be mentioned in the list of zones.

Inhalation through the zones below is carried out simultaneously for both sides of the body.
1. The area around and at the yongquan point. Before inhaling, curl your toes slightly.
2. The area under the heel in the middle.
3. The zone of failure between the two tendons on the side of the instep of the foot along the line of the middle toe at the ankle joint.
4. Center of the popliteal fold. By tensing the leg muscles while resting on the heels with a subtle attempt to bend the legs by applying force towards the heels, you can help activate the zone.
5. The middle of the inguinal folds. Open your groin a little, turn your hips outward, move them forward a little with some masculine movement. The inhalation goes up and fills the whole body to the top of the head, fills the arms.
6. Bull's nostrils on the belly. Dimples on the sides of the abdomen just above the navel, which are clearly visible with developed abs.
7. Nipples. Different people have different sensitivity - some feel the zone so clearly that their inhalation will pass exactly through the nipple, someone will draw in air in a wide area around the nipple. When someone inhales, some representation of the nipple will be activated, for example, on the side. If you discover an asymmetry in the sensation of zones on both sides of the body, then it must be eliminated, gradually making the sensations more symmetrical.
Some breast problems, especially women's, can be overcome by gradual and regular forming. The healing, rejuvenating effect of such exercises is often associated with the fact that you simply paid attention to the sore area and began to work with it.
8. Lung zones. These zones are located under the collarbones, between pectoral muscle and shoulder joint. In general, there are several active points there, and you can different time get different effects and responses from some of them. As you inhale, help activate the muscle zones by slightly raising your shoulders and turning your arms inward.
9. Areas under the earlobe.
10. Inhale through the entire area of the eyes and eye sockets. Be sure to imagine inhaling through the zone in the form of something pleasant, for example, a warm spring breeze. The human nervous system is a delicate thing, and negative thought patterns during meditation can bring unpleasant surprises, even mental trauma.
Often, when performing meditation energy exercises, a person “breaks through” into auto-movements, which in this case are extremely useful and serve to redistribute energy. If such movements occur, do not stop them forcibly, as if observing them from the side, controlling only possible pain from excessive muscle contractions, for example, by tensing the antagonist muscles. Upon completion of the process, stretch, rub your body and give the area that caused the auto-movements additional attention.
11. Inhale through the temples and into the center of the brain. Such an inhalation has a powerful rejuvenating effect on the internal secretion glands of the head. Single zones follow.
12. Bai Hui area, or top of the head. Inhalation through the bai-hui zone can be assisted by stretching the neck and moving the ears and scalp toward the back of the head. If you feel a chill running down your back, then direct it down to your heels. Such techniques have a slight stimulating effect on the body and reduce stagnation of energy, that is, they are rejuvenating.
13. Feng fu point area. The central fossa on the neck just below the back of the head is the gate of the wind for the penetration of information fields and horizontal vibrations, for the penetration of the effects of wind and cold. This wind gate runs along the entire boundary between the soft and hard parts of the skull.
In general, all areas of the body where the soft meets the hard, where the bones come close to the surface of the body, are subject to cooling and absorption of pathogenic winds.
The main idea of Taoist practices is active resistance to the influence of the surrounding world. You create energy structures so that at the right moment you can generate from within a sufficient amount of protective energy that prevents external influences.
One of the options for performing the complex is a form with an additional emphasis on exhalation, when you release some energy flows from the body through the activated zone. Then, if you feel through the wind gate, or any part of your body, some kind of cold influence, for example, a draft, you will be able to counteract it.
The feng fu point is used in the rejuvenating wind technique, or creating a feeling of a happy brain. Imagine which wind will be most pleasant to you in the area of feng fu. Reinforce the internal state of the imaginary wind entering with external influence - for example, ask your partner to exhale into this zone. Feel the penetration of a pleasant wind into your brain, feel how the breeze fills your head, first at the edges, under the skin of the skull, then reaches the eyebrow area, and captures your entire head, returning back to feng fu.
So, as you inhale through feng fu, fill your brain with the slightest feeling of pleasure from inhalation. Choose the width of the inhalation zone that suits you; you can even inhale with the whole scruff of your neck.
14. Center between the shoulder blades. You will find it by squeezing your shoulder blades together and throwing your head back, arching as much as possible, moving your shoulders up and down.
15. Deflection area in the lower back. The most mobile part of the spine, the Ming Men point can serve as a guide.
16. Center of the sacrum. Patting on the sacrum can be an extremely useful additional effect, as it perfectly eliminates areas of “pelvic” stagnation in women.
17. Coccyx area. Slightly tightening the anus and then relaxing it, you breathe through the tailbone. Sometimes it is not so much the tailbone itself that is felt, but the border around it.

Inhalation through the following zones is carried out through four points simultaneously, two on each side of the body.
18. Centers of the gluteal fold and “dragon nostrils” (dimples formed by muscle tension) in the center of the buttocks. As you inhale, you direct the flow to the abdominal area, filling the entire pelvic area with inhalation.
19. Zones in the middle of the thigh, on the outer and inner sides.
20. “Calf nostrils” (indentations under the kneecap on both sides of the tendon).
21. Zones in the middle of the lower leg, on the outer and inner sides.
22. Zones on both sides of the shin, up to the width of 4 fingers (3 cun) from the ankle bones. The zones can be based on the San Yin Jiao and Xuan Zhong points.
23. Zones - depressions on both sides of the Achilles tendon. The active zones themselves can go deep under the bones of the ankles, and when you inhale, you may feel a feeling of a corridor going into the bone.
24. Lateral bones of the ankle joint, from the outside and inside.
25. Fish eyes - zones on the instep of the foot immediately above the toes, between the thumb and index and between the ring and little fingers. The point closer to the thumb affects the liver, and, in particular, helps relieve eye strain; the area closer to the little finger has an effect on the genitourinary system.

Then again there are paired zones, that is, inhalation is carried out simultaneously on both sides of the body.
26. He-gu zones. The center of the “mound” between the thumb and index finger that forms during adduction thumb to the palm.
27. Center of the elbow bend.
When in meditative practices you need to cope with a large surge of energy, it can be directed to various folds - armpits, groin, elbow bends. The folds are connected to the lymphatic system, and the lymph is always so cold and viscous that it will absorb and process any amount of excess heat.
28. Center armpit. If you feel like certain movements will help you inhale, then do them. But more often you just focus on the images and meta-sensations.

Inhale into single zones located along the midline of the body.
29. Zone of the large vertebra, or the sixth-seventh cervical and first thoracic vertebrae. Imagine some kind of energy patch there the size of your palm, and inhale through it.
This zone, the connection between the moving and fixed parts of the spine, like the lower back, is subject to stagnation and overload due to upright walking. In addition, it is associated with the regulation of breathing, with the body’s adaptation to external environmental influences, including allergens. Ideally, the area should be pain-free and relaxed.
30. The emotional center of the body. The center is located in the middle between the nipples of the breast (in case of underdeveloped mammary glands, in women it is determined by lifting the breasts while pulling the nipples straight forward). Emotional people may feel energetic stagnation and even pain in this center.
31. The xiphoid process and a fist-sized area below it. Inhale through it into your entire body. Here a connection is made between the energy of the back and the front of the body, and the inhalation can in some cases form a “tunnel” to the back.
32. The “embryo” zone, or the middle between the navel and the xiphoid process.
This zone, associated with the vessel of conception, is especially important for women planning to become mothers, as it promotes childbearing. Periodic irritation of the area with a light vibration massage over several breaths can be used to activate the conception vessel, after which the irritation should be relieved by stroking, and, if necessary, return to the massage after a couple of hours. To awaken the zone in the folk medicine of the East, the following technique was used - a bag with a scorpion was hung on the neck, which touched the embryonic zone, mental concentration occurred on the vessel of conception, and the woman, who was previously unable to give birth, was cured. There was even a practice that helped to program the gender of the child: during an orgasm with conception, a woman created a male genital organ in this place, and connected it with a man, who in turn generated a certain female organ in his zone, and at the same time also created the image of a boy or girls, thereby regulating the sex of the future embryo.
33. Navel. This energy zone is extremely important in Taoist practices and is used in many breathing techniques.
It is believed that breathing through the navel makes you like a baby receiving nourishment from the mother through the navel, and thereby restores some lost connections. In particular, periodic breathing through the navel contributes to the development of the energy of the so-called navel flower, that is, the zones around the navel in eight directions from it. The condition of the navel flower actively affects digestion and the health of internal organs. The navel itself, as the activated center of this flower, greatly increases the effectiveness of influencing the points associated with it, however, it is advisable to carry out meditative practices and breathing exercises using the navel after a whole series of preparatory exercises that open up the energetic capabilities of the navel.
34. The zone of the anterior projection of the lower tan tien or the area from 2-2.5 to 4 fingers below the navel. The lower or main tan tien occupies the space of the entire inner hip bowl of the abdomen, and is, in addition to the energy center, also the sensual center of sexual experiences. That is why the classic inhalation through the tan tien is usually accompanied by a feeling of delight and sexual experience.
Such sexual stimulation is used in a series of energy practices and in the creation of the ninth miraculous channel (secret techniques of Taoist immortals).
35. Inhale through the root of the penis or the clitoris.
36. Hui-yin zone. The Hui Yin point is located in the middle of the distance between the anus and the genitals.
37. Coccyx (17 zone)
38. Sacrum (16 zone)
39. Zone of maximum deflection in the lower back (zone 15)
40. Center between the shoulder blades (zone 14)
41. Feng fu point zone (zone 13)
42. Bai Hui point zone (zone 12)

Paired inhalation zones.
43. Nostrils of a celestial, or projection of eyes on the back of the head.
44. Feng chi point zones.
45. Zones at the intersection of the shoulder line with the line of the base of the neck, closer to the back.
46. Shoulder centers. They are located in the middle of the line from the shoulder joint to the neck.
These centers are important points for relaxing the body, relieving accumulated fatigue and stress, and restoring energy circulation.
47. Dimples found behind shoulder joints from the back when raising and lowering the shoulder. These zones are also one of the cold entry points.
48. Centers of the shoulder blades. They can also serve as entry points for cold and pathogenic energies.
49. Gao-huang point zones. The points are located midway between the center of the edge of the scapula closest to the spine and the spine. These zones are one of the gates of entry of cold to the spine, and also anti-influenza.
Warming the tzu-san-li points with a wormwood cigarette has a general rejuvenating effect and prevents the rise of age-related pathogenic energies that come from the ground up the legs and negatively affect vision.
In terms of the strength of their effect on the body, the Gao Huang zones can be placed next to the Zu San Li points, so they should also be periodically warmed up.
50. Areas under the lower angles of the shoulder blades, closer to the spine.
51. Centers affecting the adrenal glands. They are located at a distance of two to three fingers from the spine from the border of the lower ribs upwards.
As you know, the adrenal glands are responsible for the production of stress hormones, hormones that affect heart rate, mineral metabolism and bone strength. In general, stimulation of the adrenal glands leads to overall rejuvenation of the body.
52. Second kidney centers. They are located on the border of the yin and yang sides of the body, that is, on the side above and below the two lower ribs (there are several zone centers that affect the kidneys).
53. The ends of the floating ribs are on the front side of the yin, closer to the side above the hip joints.
54. Nostrils of the lower back above the horns of the sacrum, transition from the bones of the pelvis to the soft part of the waist. To eliminate congestion in the entire pelvic area, a gentle massage of these areas is recommended.
55. Centers above the hip joint.
56. Edges of the pubic bone. The zones help eliminate congestion and painful areas on the sides of the body.
These areas are affected to speed up prolonged labor.
57. Zones in the center of the gap between the muscles on the thigh, immediately at the inguinal folds (anterior surface of the thigh).
Periodic exposure to these areas helps clear fecal stones and improves the condition of the large intestine. Taking 21 olive kernels promotes this process.
58. Thigh centers in front.
59. Points under the kneecap, where the knee reflex is tested with a hammer.
60. Centers calf muscles from the back of the leg.
The impact on the zone has a beneficial effect on the functions of the stomach and on solving problems with the veins.

Inhale through complex multiple zones.
61. Centers under the heels, centers of the palms - Lao Gong points, the entire male penis and its opening or the entire vagina and clitoris. When inhaling, it is important to feel all the genital organs from the inside.
When additionally working with stagnant areas, it is important to remember that irritation of the female genital organs, G-spots, and massage of the pelvic bones from inside the vagina contribute to the healing and rejuvenation of the entire body.
62. Inhale through the nose, as well as through the projections of the maxillary sinuses on the forehead above the eyebrows and on the cheeks near the nose. Inhale with your whole face, as well as the ear canals, all the ears, and the point in the middle of the lower jaw on the chin.
63. Inhale with an open mouth, as well as with the testicles or ovaries. These inhalations occur at the level of the xiphoid process, are accompanied by a state of discovery, insight, surprise as you inhale, and activate the brain.
64. Final, deep, comprehensive breath with the whole body, the whole skin.
Skin breathing develops body sensitivity. To begin developing this sensitivity, you can massage your partner's bare skin with something soft - silk, hair, feathers.

Some Taoist breathing exercises

The proposed exercises have a beneficial effect on the entire body and help increase (up to 50%) a person’s capabilities for prolonged physical effort and stress.
Exercise 1. Enables gas exchange in the lung and gastric tissues. During normal breathing, this exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide does not occur. The exercise is best done in the morning or evening. Performed in a standing, sitting or lying position.
Exhale slowly at the beginning. As you exhale, tighten abdominal muscles to push the air out of the lungs. Imagine all the air molecules leaving the lungs.
After exhaling completely, inhale slowly, expanding your lungs so that your chest also expands in all directions. Tighten your stomach tightly, preventing it from inflating. During the first part of the exercise, only the chest muscles work.
Once your lungs are full, hold your breath for a few moments to allow complete gas exchange to occur.
Tighten your chest muscles and lungs while slowly inflating your belly until it resembles a ball. These movements push air from the top of the lungs to the bottom.
Hold the air in the lower part of your lungs for several tens of seconds (adjustable individually if possible), then slowly tense your stomach and release the air through your mouth. This exercise is difficult to do at first, but with a little persistence you can learn to fill and empty the lower part of your lungs.
A full inhalation followed by an exhalation constitutes the respiratory cycle. In the beginning, two or three such cycles will be enough. Over time, you can repeat the cycle up to 12 times. You must remember that you must perform the exercise slowly at all times.
Note The exercise is not recommended for pregnant women.
Exercise 1 not only supplies the tissues with oxygen and revitalizes them, but also tones the abdominal tissues and increases the volume of the chest. In addition, it promotes deeper breathing and more complete elimination of stagnant gases that often become trapped in the lower part of the lungs.

Exercise 2. This exercise is slightly different from the first: first the air enters the upper part of the lungs, then you hold it in the chest for as long as you can. After this, you exhale.
Exhale slowly, picking up the muscles abdominals. Contraction of the abdominal muscles and diaphragm removes all the air from the lungs.
After exhaling completely, inhale just as slowly, expanding and filling the entire upper part of your lungs with air. Tuck your stomach up (do not release it in the form of a ball), since this exercise only works top part lungs.
When the top of your lungs fills with air, hold your breath for a while to prevent air from escaping and allow gas exchange to occur completely.
After this, slowly tighten your chest so that the air from the top of your lungs moves to the bottom. Expand your belly a little so that “air can enter it.”
Hold your breath for as long as you can. Then exhale slowly through your mouth.
A full inhalation and a full exhalation is a breathing cycle. Repeat the cycle at your discretion (on average 7 times).

Unfortunately, each of us has a very limited time in this life. Irreversible aging processes in the average person begin at the age of about 40 years. Around this age, most people begin to pay close attention to their health. This becomes especially obvious when you watch the lives of show business stars. Until the age of 35 - 40, they live as they want! Many of them drink alcohol and even drugs, but from this age everything changes dramatically. Yoga, meditation, ... They are ready to do anything to prolong their life and youth.

What are you willing to do for the sake of youth and good spirits?

Plastic surgery is expensive and unnatural. There are much more productive ways. One of them is Chinese breathing exercises. We will talk about it in more detail today.

Sages of the East

The East is a delicate matter... More precisely, the East is a special place. In this part of the Earth live people whose mentality is very different from Western man. The sages of Japan and China have been passing on the wisdom and knowledge of working with one’s own physical embodiment and spirit for 7,000 years from generation to generation.

Chinese sages are sure that the whole world is a vast ocean of energies intertwined with each other. And that everything around us consists of such intertwinings: seas, oceans, grass, earth, trees, animals, birds and, of course, man himself. They call the energy inside the human body Qi or Chi, and it is with it that practitioners such as Qigong and Jianfei teach to work.

These systems lie at the heart of the secrets of Chinese centenarians. They are designed to teach a person to awaken this energy within himself, learn to manage it, accumulate it and live in harmony with himself and the surrounding reality.

And you, too, can join the ancient knowledge and gain health, youth and longevity, no matter what state you are in right now!

What is it for?

Our modern life flows in full swing and flows very high speeds! The nervous system does not always maintain this pace. And where the nerves suffer, the whole body suffers. Eastern breathing practices filled with the wisdom of our ancestors will help you:

  • Restore balance in body and mind, clear consciousness of all kinds of worries and garbage. Therefore, strengthen your nervous system, find peace and vitality.
  • Improve metabolism and tissue gas exchange, which also contributes to the acquisition of relief and slimness.
  • Improve immunity.
  • Relieve fatigue and gain a surge of strength and vigor.
  • Stimulate the work of absolutely all organs and systems.

By training your breathing, you will generally bring the body into a more alert state and prepare it for physical activity. Few people know, but you shouldn’t immediately start playing hard sports to lose weight or improve your health. On the contrary, this can harm unprepared muscles and organs. Breathing complexes exist precisely so that when getting on the path healthy image life, you have prepared for the stress and have already accumulated energy.
Qi energy and the technique that awakens it

Qigong is literally translated as working with Qi energy. The technique itself is based on knowledge about human energy and its energy centers such as:

  • head
  • breast
  • stomach

The practice itself takes its origins from Taoist culture and has at its center a complex of harmonious combination physical movements with correct inhalations and exhalations. Exactly right!

Most people do not even suspect that their breathing has long ceased to be deep. For us, this is such a natural process that we simply do not pay attention to, not suspecting that breathing deeply, using not only the lungs, but also using the diaphragm - this is what we need for longevity.

There are three types of breathing in the Qigong system. “Breath of Fire” - it is used in fast dynamic complexes. How to do it is explained in detail in this video.

Deep and measured inhalation and exhalation is used in exercises to clear the mind and relax. Well, the most common type is deep breathing using the diaphragm. It is necessary for everyone to master it. It's very simple: to do this, during inhalation, your stomach must inflate, like balloon and deflate during exhalation.

Repeat the complex itself after the presenter in this video. So just 15 minutes a day will bring you significantly closer to your cherished goal - brilliant health!

For those who want to lose weight

Many people want to lose weight, but few realize that being slim is not only proper nutrition and physical training. To a greater extent, this is the correct functioning of all internal organs and metabolic processes. After all, if fat accumulates in problem areas, this means that your metabolism is disrupted. The sages of the East have their own solution to this too.

Look at the Chinese, Japanese and Asians - they are all very slim!

Of course, this is also due to their diet, which is mainly dominated by rice and seafood, but also with the use of ancient Taoist knowledge, which over time took shape in the Jianfei technique.

Can't wait to start losing weight with Jianfei?!

Here's a video. Get started and enjoy quick results!

Healing sounds

For those who want to take an express course of rejuvenation, China has come up with a system - six healing sounds. According to it, special body movements are performed, during which six special sounds must be pronounced, each of which has its own special meaning.

1. “He” is a sound responsible for the proper functioning of the heart and small intestines. Used to achieve a clear, calm state of consciousness and mind.

2. “Xu” is a sound that cleanses the liver and gall bladder. The Chinese are convinced that a person’s anger accumulates in the liver. With the help of healing sound, you seem to squeeze out all the anger from the liver, regaining balance and deep healthy sleep.

3. “Chui” is a sound that frees the bladder and kidneys from all unpleasant stagnant processes. According to the wise Asians, the kidney channel in the human body is responsible for happiness. This means that the better your kidneys work, the happier you are!

4. “Hu” - helps remove toxins from the spleen and stomach.

5. “Sy” is the correct functioning of the lungs.

6. “Si” - cleanses the channels from the diaphragm to the throat, from the navel to the diaphragm and below the navel.

To better understand what's what, watch this video.

I hope the article was useful to you and will really help many of you improve your vitality and become a little more harmonious!

Reverse abdominal breathing - “Taoist breathing”

Reverse abdominal breathing?-? "Taoist breath"

“Taoist Breathing” is used when practicing martial arts. It allows you to quickly increase the energy of the body, provided that you inhale and exhale air through the nose.

When you inhale, you draw in your stomach, filling it as much as possible. chest air (I don’t advise beginners to do this? -? They may feel dizzy, and smokers may even lose consciousness). When you exhale, the stomach inflates and protrudes slightly forward.

Without a teacher or at the beginning of breathing exercises, Taoist breathing should be used for no longer than 2–3 minutes.

Chest breathing?-? breathing of strength This type of breathing is used to gain strength during heavy physical labor, such as carrying heavy objects, rolling large stones and heavy tree trunks, as well as in training athletes, divers and in combat.

IN Chinese qigong there are two basic methods breathing practice. This is the so-called natural (Buddhist) breathing and paradoxical (Taoist) breath . The main and fundamental difference between them is that if in the natural (Buddhist) type of breathing, during inhalation the stomach fills and protrudes, and during exhalation it retracts; then with paradoxical (Taoist) breathing, on the contrary, during inhalation the stomach retracts, and during exhalation it protrudes.

All qigong manuals outline both breathing methods and Chinese masters breathing qigong can move freely from one method to another. Since a comparative analysis of these two methods is very important from a practical point of view, we will consider each of them in more detail and detail.

Taoist paradoxical breathing is based on the intensive use of Mula Bandha in the complete absence of Uddiyana Bandha. Mula bandha is an extremely powerful technique for the sublimation of sexual energy, based on periodic alternation of retraction and relaxation of the lower abdomen (pubic area), genital area, as well as the anus and perineum. In the case of Chinese paradoxical breathing, retraction and compression of these zones occurs during inhalation, and their relaxation, accompanied by expansion of the lower abdomen, occurs during exhalation. Qualitative relaxation of the above zones during exhalation is essential.

The impact is truly unique. This type of breathing can also be called pumping breath because it relieves sexual overload and directs sexual energy ching up the spine. Pumping Taoist breathing is an excellent method for periods of long-term sexual abstinence, as well as for those who practice sexual yoga, be it its Tantric (Indian) version or Taoist (Chinese).

The transition from Buddhist natural breathing to paradoxical Taoist breathing immediately and very obviously leads to an increase in the ability of self-control during sexual intercourse. The practice of Taoist breathing is very beneficial in eliminating premature ejaculation in men, and helps women easily and successfully practice the circulation of energy in the microcosmic orbit during sexual intercourse. In addition, regular practice of Taoist paradoxical breathing ensures a healthy state of the entire genitourinary area, and also cures diseases such as prostate adenoma and uterine fibroids, making surgical intervention unnecessary. Mula bandha works on the principle that I call “dirty sponge in running water.” If we rhythmically squeeze and release this dirty sponge, then soon all the dirt will be removed, washed, and the sponge will become clean again. This is the great merit of the Taoist paradoxical breathing method, which can also be called “Mula Bandha Pranayama”.

Here I must make certain clarifications. The point is that I use the term Mula bandha somewhat loosely. There are actually three different techniques used in paradoxical breathing. This:

1) Vajroli mudra, in which women squeeze their vagina and men retract their penis and scrotum.

2) Mula bandha, in which women squeeze the cervix, and men squeeze the perineal area (between the scrotum and anus).

3) Ashwini mudra, in which the anus (anal sphincter) contracts.

For convenience, I will use only one of these technical terms - Mula bandha, keeping in mind all three of the above techniques combined. Thus, for me, Mula Bandha is a combination of all three sublimation techniques, a general concept that covers Vajroli Mudra, Mula Bandha itself, and Ashwini Mudra. Since all three compression zones involved are located in the same region, this freedom, in my opinion, is completely justified, since it allows us to avoid unnecessary terminological clutter.

So, Taoist paradoxical breathing fully utilizes Mula Bandha (retraction of the lower abdomen, genital area, anus and perineum), but at the same time, unfortunately, excludes Uddiyana Bandha - retraction of the middle part of the abdomen, including the navel and Tan Tien. This is the main disadvantage of this breathing method. In Taoist breathing, as you inhale, the stomach retracts, and as you exhale, it protrudes. With this breathing pattern, performing Uddiyana bandha becomes impossible. Meanwhile, this technique is extremely important and is considered in Hatha Yoga as one of the most effective and valuable methods. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika says the following about this bandha:

« Press your navel to your spine. This is Uddiyana Bandha - the lion that defeats the elephant called death."(Chapter II, 56).

« Uddiyana is simple, since it is given by the teacher. He who does this, even if he is old, becomes young again"(Chapter II, 57).

« Press everything above and below your navel to your back. You will overcome death in six months. There is no doubt" (Chapter II, 58).

« Of all the bandhas, Uddiyana is the best. Establish yourself in it - and liberation will come by itself"(Chapter II, 59).

« There is nothing better than three bandhas. All masters practice them without fail, because three are known as the most important of all Hatha Yoga techniques"(Chapter II, 75).

As you can see, the most important techniques of classical Hatha yoga are three bandhas (three locks): Jalandhara bandha (neck lock), Uddiyana bandha (retraction of the middle abdomen) and Mula bandha (retraction of the lower abdomen and genital area). Of course, the three basic bandhas themselves are rarely practiced. As a rule, they are performed not as separate exercises, but as technical elements that are part of yogic breathing - Pranayama.

Although in Indian yoga Uddiyana bandha is considered the most important of the three bandhas, this can be argued. In my opinion, Mula Bandha is in no way inferior in importance to Uddiyana Bandha. Arguing about which bandha is more significant is the same as arguing which physiological system is more important - the genitourinary or the digestive. Of course, this kind of discussion makes no sense.

In the natural (Buddhist) type of breathing, which undoubtedly came to China from India, as you inhale, the stomach fills and protrudes, and as you exhale, it retracts. Such breathing technique very convenient for the practice of Uddiyana bandha - drawing in the middle part of the abdomen (the navel area, as well as above and below this area) during exhalation.

What exactly does Uddiyana bandha give? I will list its main advantages, its unique contribution to the practice of breathing qigong:

a) a full massage of all internal organs located in the abdominal cavity. Uddiyana bandha has a particularly beneficial effect on the entire digestive system: the stomach, intestines, liver and kidneys. In this case, very strong energy processes occur, because Uddiyana bandha works as a powerful energy pump. However, a strong effect occurs even at a purely physiological level. Here I allow myself to return once again to the metaphor of a dirty sponge. Let's imagine this sponge that we placed in running water. Squeeze, release, squeeze again, release again. The sponge is quickly and effectively freed from dirt that has filled it. Something similar happens during breathing practice using Uddiyana bandha. Blood circulation is stimulated, congestion and adhesions are eliminated, benign tumors are resolved, and so on. All this can be realized only through natural (Buddhist) breathing, based on the use of Uddiyana bandha. Without this bandha, such an amplitude and such a pronounced effect on the abdominal cavity and the contents contained in it can be achieved. internal organs– is fundamentally impossible.

b) From an energy (prana, qi) point of view, Uddiyana bandha is the most powerful energy pump, an energy pump that dramatically increases both the circulation of energy within our body and the energy exchange with the environment.

Uddiyana bandha (and this is clearly stated in the classical texts of Hatha Yoga) activates the flow of energy through the lumbar spine. Thus, it has a beneficial effect both on this part of the spine and on the entire lumbar region. This is very easy to see if you have problems there (sciatica, heaviness and pain in the lower back, “fatigue” of the back). Enough in Everyday life keep your stomach slightly tucked (even without a full-fledged Uddiyana bandha), as soon the lower back begins to warm up, and pain and fatigue gradually dissolve.

In Taoist paradoxical breathing, Uddiyana bandha is absent and this very often leads to lower back pain. If you practice paradoxical breathing while sitting in Siddhasana and in sufficient volumes (30-50 minutes twice a day), then in the absence special exercises to relieve overload from the lumbar region, you can ultimately get a severe attack of radiculitis.

Finally, the absence of Uddiyana bandha leads to the appearance of a specific Taoist tummy in those who practice paradoxical breathing. It is interesting that in this case, the dividing line between the “lower territory” of the abdomen, which belongs to the sphere of influence of Mula Bandha, and the “middle territory” of the abdomen (the navel and Tan Tien area), which belongs to the sphere of influence of Uddiyana Bandha, is very clearly visible on the stomach. Below this demarcation line, the abdomen is tucked in, body fat are missing, but higher up – all this disgrace begins. As we see, the Taoist belly is not a virtue at all, not evidence of the abundance of vital energy accumulated in the abdominal area, but only an unpleasant consequence of the practice of Taoist breathing, which is not balanced by absolutely necessary additional exercises for the abdominals.

However, there is no need to be afraid of Taoist paradoxical breathing. To avoid possible exacerbations (lower back pain and the appearance of a Taoist tummy), it is enough to perform a small set of the following 4 exercises every day:

1. Crocodile, legs spread.

2. Crocodile, legs closed.

4. Rotation lumbar region spine while sitting in Seiza.

All these exercises are given in the chapter “Practice for the Taoist Circle.” If you are not lazy and do this small but very important task every day useful complex exercise - there will be no problems.

Thus, each of the two bandhas discussed has its own advantages and disadvantages. Mula bandha provides an effect that cannot be obtained through Uddiyana bandha. And vice versa, what Uddiyana bandha gives, the practice of Mula bandha cannot give.
