Text version

- Greetings, dear friends! You are listening to the radio “Beauty of Sports”. IN this moment There is a men's relay race on the website http://krasotasporta.rf/, and we have an unusual broadcast today. Right during the relay, our guest agreed to be the biathlete of the Russian national team, bronze and gold medalist of the European Championship in Otepää (Estonia) 2015 Anton Babikov. Anton, hello, how are you?

Hello! The mood is great, the guys are making us happy.

Yes, now our team is in one of the first places, Evgeniy Garanichev and Maxim Tsvetkov did a good job. Anton, how old were you when you started biathlon? Why biathlon, why, for example, not skiing? What is it about this sport that attracts you?

I started doing biathlon at the age of twelve. Why? That’s probably how life led me. I went to the ski section at school, it was not professional enough, they just taught kids how to ski. And when we learned to stand on skis, the coach and our physical education teacher himself told us that go, try biathlon because you may have better prospects there.

Okay, I see, Anton. I read on the website of the Russian Biathlon Union that your idols are Yuri Borzakovsky and Maxim Chudov. Why these athletes? Why are they your idols?

Maxim Chudov because he is my fellow countryman, he had an excellent career. I always looked at him as a role model, the way he fought for our country. And I know him very well as a person, I like him very much. I believe that you can take a lot from him as an athlete and as a person. And Yuri Borzakovsky? I just really liked the way he ran his races and showed his character. Not just some kind of frantic force, but wisely used his capabilities. I always liked this, so I named him too.

Yes, Anton, and you can also highlight the longevity of Yuri Borzakovsky, who performed for a very long time. How do you rate your performance this year? Separately in the IBU Cup, separately in the World Cup, at the European Championships? What worked, what, on the contrary, did not work, what was positive?

I rate it a four plus, I guess. In principle, there were many races where I could have performed better and made fewer mistakes, but this is sport, and you can’t do without it. At the IBU Cups, I had, in principle, quite a lot of good races, where I was just a little short of winning prizes. Maybe the skis weren't working well. It’s just that there is little snow in Europe this year and it’s warm almost everywhere. This is very difficult weather for gliding and for service crews to work, so sometimes we unfortunately experience problems. But the European Championship, of course, went great. There are two medals - these are good result for me. Also somewhere, maybe a little bit, it wasn’t enough, but this is sport, and you can’t live without it. What about the World Cup? Of course, I am not yet happy with my results at this level, but I understand perfectly well that this is not my ceiling, that there were reasons for such performances. And I think I can prove myself very well in the future when I have a chance.

In connection with the European Championship, the question is: how did you manage to literally gnaw out two years in a row? bronze medal at the European Championships, especially this year, when you lost to your opponent literally a few hundred meters before the finish, but managed to perform so actively last segment distances? What is it: self-confidence, training, luck?

I think that's the whole point. And self-confidence, and, of course, training, you can’t do without them, but also a piece of luck. I don’t know how it happened that I won this medal two years in a row. Probably because this is the last race before the relay, the last personal race at the European Championships. Somehow we manage to pull ourselves together. This race suits me due to its features in terms of shooting, distance, and atmosphere on the track. And so it turns out that I take the medal.

Well, once again I congratulate you on winning a bronze medal individually at the European Championships and a gold medal in the relay race. In what aspect do you think you should work more on yourself: shooting, ski run maybe psychology?

You need to work in all components, but more, of course, in shooting. I am making some progress in this component. My shooting statistics for the season show this and how I perform in training. Here, for example, at the training camp in Holmenkollen, I had three training sessions, and two penalties from twenty-six boundaries is an excellent statistic for me. You just need to transfer this work to competitions, then everything will be fine. And, of course, don’t miss out on functional aspects, work the same way we do every day, all year, and then we will grow further.

Anton, you are a young biathlete, a representative of the new generation. I would like to know your opinion on the following question. Do you think that the rules in biathlon need to be changed, for example, lengthening or reducing the penalty circle or target diameter to increase entertainment or, conversely, improve the balance of shooting and racing? There are some opinions that now skiers have an advantage, and shooting is leveled out. Some, on the contrary, believe that shooting is more important than skiing. This is the question.

I am a supporter of some traditional approaches and do not believe that there is a need to be very sophisticated in this regard and come up with a wheel, reinvent it. Let's say the races that are currently being held are, for example, “ fun starts", like the Race of Champions or in Germany a race. Also in the Czech Republic there was now a new race included in the World Cup. All these races, it seems to me, are still inferior to the classic races that we have been running for many years. I doubt that these experiments are really necessary. At least for me, they will not replace established traditions.

I understand your opinion, Anton. Besides biathlon, do you follow any other sports, maybe support any team or athlete?

I'm not a fan of certain teams. I like to watch different sports: football, volleyball, and everything that is shown on TV, if I have free time. But I’m not rooting for anyone in particular. When the Russian national team performs at any championship, I root for the guys from my country, but I’m not a fan of anyone.

- Okay, Anton, then let’s take a little break from biathlon. I remind you that this interview you can listen on the website http://krasotasporta.rf/, and combine it with watching men's relay. This question was also asked by our site readers: what kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to a lot of different music. I also love classics, but to listen to classics you need good acoustics and good sound. But I don’t like wearing headphones, I don’t have any powerful speakers, I don’t take them with me, so, of course, I’m a little limited in this regard. It’s just that when I have time to listen to something, I turn on everything, and the music that my brothers listen to, I trust their choice. I don’t really like genres like rap, when they sing about something so criminal. I just love good sound, good musical instruments.

Anton, I know that you are fond of reading. Accordingly, there was a question from visitors to our site: what book did you read the most, what is your favorite writer?

This is a difficult question, actually, because I am one of those people who are not fans of any works. Therefore, I believe that I have not yet read all the writers, even from my home library. Of all the books I read, Hermann Hesse captivated me the most; I read all his books. It is difficult to name one specific one. For example, I really like a book like “Narcissus and Chrysostom”.

- I understand about books, Anton. There was also a question from our readers: can you dance?

I love dancing in good company or when, on the contrary, there is no one. I can afford to dance to some music I hear. But I am not such a professional, for example, as Alexey Volkov (laughs).

I see, Anton. Well, we now know that Alexey Volkov is a professional dancer on the Russian national team. There are many more questions from our radio listeners, for example, how do you relax outside of biathlon?

First of all, we need to remember when this happened – outside of biathlon? Probably, we are talking about inter-assemblies. When I come home, I try to see all my family and friends. I have a big family, and I'm always happy to get out into nature or go play something with my family. It's small for me exercise stress. I consider this a vacation for myself. Leisure in good company is the best vacation for me. At home, when I don’t read books because I have a lot of time for that during training camps, between training sessions, I try to spend more time with my family.

- Thank you, Anton, for your detailed answer. There were many questions about my personal life.

Do I need to answer? (laughs).

- If you don’t want to, don’t answer, I don’t insist.

In general, it’s hard to say, not because I have some kind of special relationship or something else. I just wouldn't want people to be so interested in this moment. Even if I’m married or, conversely, take some vow of celibacy (laughs). I am a young man, I live and enjoy life. In my family, everyone has wives and girlfriends. I look at them and rejoice, while I go in for sports.

Well, Anton, it was very nice to talk to you; it’s immediately clear that you are a very positive person. We hope that you will gain a foothold in the Russian national team, perform well, and show good results. And the last question in today’s interview: what are your plans for the near future, what will you do in the near future? What are your plans for the next year or two? Naturally, to do biathlon, what else?

I will also answer about plans for a shorter period of time. I'm flying home soon. In my hometown Ufa will now take place Youth Championship Russia. I’ll take part in it and then go to the European Cup in Canada – I hope. And for a longer period? We have to wait until spring when the lineups are announced. I hope that I will be accepted into the team for the preparatory period for the next season. I hope that the next two years will pass in a sporting way, that is, only development. I don’t have any plans other than training and performing in the winter. At least in the next two years I am not going to give up sports (laughs).

- Anton, Thanks a lot for the interview, very good answers, it was very pleasant to talk. Goodbye!

Thank you bye.

1. Babikov was born on the day of the Airborne Forces - August 2, 1990 in Ufa. Anton has a twin brother and two more older brothers.

2. Babikov started biathlon in the fifth grade, and before that he dreamed of boxing, like his older brother. More precisely, first, thanks to the physical education teacher, a section appeared in the life of the future biathlete cross-country skiing, but riding in a small circle seemed too boring. So Anton signed up for biathlon.

3. Become professional athlete At first he didn’t even dream of it - playing sports was entertainment. Babikov is still confident that if he had championship ambitions too early, he would not have achieved anything. According to the athlete, in his adolescence he simply dreamed of being better than his twin brother.

4. As a member of the junior team, Babikov competed at the European Championships summer biathlon in 2010. He became a bronze medalist in the pursuit race and won as part of the national team mixed relay. But on winter starts The young Ufa resident did not have much success. True, he himself is sure that this is for the better: “I walked towards the result in very small steps, some things worked out, some didn’t, and I was fully aware that no one was waiting for me at any adult level.” .

5. First successes on international level appeared in 2014 - Babikov became the bronze medalist of the European Championship in the same pursuit race. The next year he repeated this result, adding gold in the relay race in the company of Alekseev - Volkov and Slepov and Alexander Pechenkin. This year in Tyumen, together with Victoria Slivko, our hero won the mixed single and became third in the sprint.

6. The debut at the World Cup happened in January 2015 in Ruhpolding. In the sprint race he finished 46th. The Ufa resident received a second chance at a 7.5-kilometer distance in the same season in Nove Mesto, but was unable to improve his result, finishing only 75th. At five more stages Babikov was a reserve.

7. Last season there were three cup stages. In Östersund, Anton came 18th in the individual race; in Anterselva, in the risky, as our hero likes to say, sprint, he came 31st, and in the pursuit he was already seventh. But at the World Championships, Babikov was entrusted with a place in four races at once. Best result Then she took 6th place in the relay race, and among personal disciplines - 16th position in the mass start.

8. Anton considers the individual race to be his signature and favorite type of biathlon program. According to the athlete, she has the most suitable rhythm and endurance for him, and she also requires a cool mind and strong nerves.

9. Babikov is a big fan of reading. Among the biathlete's favorite books are "Spartacus" by Raffaello Giovagnoli and the works of Hermann Hesse.

10. In his free time from training and reading, Anton really likes to play... sports. He plays squash and badminton with his brothers, and is also interested in one of the types of rock climbing - bouldering. In addition, Babikov loves to watch sports, follows our football teams, and especially hockey team Russia.

Four years ago, biathlete Anton Igorevich Babikov was unknown to anyone. Two years ago, this name was known mainly to specialists. Now, after a gold medal at the World Cup, Anton entered the Russian sports elite. In all likelihood, this name will be in the news a lot during subsequent competitions. We present to your attention the biography of Anton Babikov, a biathlete.

Anton Babikov, photo

early years

The future world champion was born on August 2, 1991 in Ufa, into the family of an athlete. The family was large: the hero of our story is one of the four Babikov brothers. The youngest in the family were two twins - Anton and Roman.

Despite the fact that his father was not far from the biathlon complex, Babikov’s interests were not immediately determined. One of the older brothers was seriously involved in boxing, and therefore Anton attended the boxing section for two years. In addition, he played basketball, football and skiing. The skier-coach set the boy on the right path and advised him to switch to biathlon (actually ski section was not professional enough).

Anton Babikov has been involved in biathlon since 2002. He was brought to the Russian junior national team, who agreed to train the young man, although he did not make the team due to his age.

The first success came in 2010, when Alexander won medals at the Junior World Summer Biathlon Championships in Osrblje (Slovakia) - it was bronze in the pursuit and gold in the relay. However, this success remained without continuation for a long time: Babikov did not reveal himself as an athlete right away. He admits that in juniors he did not yet have sufficient physical strength and readiness and felt the “taste of victory” already at a fairly mature age - at 23 years old.

Sports achivments

The athlete considers the 2014 European Championship to be his first significant success.

On February 2, 2014, Anton Babikov won a bronze medal in the individual race (first place went to another Russian biathlete, Maxim Tsvetkov). However, the breakthrough happened even earlier: in 2013, Anton became the champion of Russia in summer biathlon.

A triumph for Russian athlete became the European Championship, which was held in Tyumen from February 24 to 26, 2016. Babikov won two gold medals here at once - in the pursuit and in the single women's relay. He won the last award while working in a team with Victoria Slivko. However, the European Championship is not the limit. Babikov decided to try himself in the most important biathlon competition - the World Cup.

Anton Babikov's debut in the World Cup took place in January 2015 in Ruhpolding, Germany (sprint race). Babikov finished only in 46th place...

The next season (2015/2016) Anton already participated in three stages of the World Cup - Östersund, Antholz, and the championship in Holmenkollen. His best result was sixth place in the relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Holmenkollen. In total, he earned 183 points and took 46th place in the overall ranking. In general, no one assessed Babikov’s results in the World Cup as brilliant, and he seemed like a “strong middle peasant” in the lineup Russian team. It was hard to believe that, for example, such a biathlete as Maxim Tsvetkov, who beat Anton in February 2014 at the European Championships, would himself be behind the purposeful Ufa resident.

Finest hour

The recent victory in the individual race in Östersund was a triumph for Russian biathletes. Nobody thought that Tsvetkov and Babikov would be the main rivals, because Fourcade was the favorite in the race. In addition, Anton Babikov started the performance in less than ideal shape: Swedish food turned out to be so unusual for the athlete that, when entering the track, the Russian athlete felt monstrously hungry.

Maybe hunger only spurred our biathletes on. They quickly got into the group of leaders and began to step on Fourcade's heels: however, until the very end of the race the famous Frenchman was ahead.

The chance to win appeared when Fourcade made two misses at the last shooting range. Babikov stepped forward. Anton admitted that at the finish line he was no longer thinking about Fourcade, but about his compatriot Tsvetkov, who began to slowly but surely catch up with the leader.

As a result, Fourcade won bronze, Tsvetkov won silver, and Babikov (unexpectedly for the public) won gold. " A dark horse"came to the finish line first.

Babikov believes that the key to his success is not talent, but efficiency. He is convinced that any shortcomings can be corrected, as he did - a modest Ufa athlete of twenty-five years old, from whom no one expected any special achievements.

However, the victory in the World Cup was carefully prepared, fair and logical. And what the public and journalists did not know, some sports experts were able to foresee. According to their assumptions, it was Babikov who was supposed to become the leader of Russian male biathletes in the season that had begun. Although the team has such masters as or.

Babikov trains this way. An athlete’s morning begins with exercise, which is not ten squats, but a full-fledged, exhausting workout with strength exercises. The day is occupied by biathlon training itself: shooting and cross-country skiing. In the evening, Babikov works with weapons without firing - biathletes call this “idle training.” Then Anton takes a long walk or plays billiards with friends. Before going to bed, he sits down with a book and makes sure to fill out his diary.

Private life

The victories sparked a wave of reporter interest. However, it cannot be said that the champion is an open person. Biathlete Anton Babikov did not write an autobiography with scandalous stories (as some athletes do), and in general he is not ready to give his dossier with juicy “compromising evidence” to the press. For example, we don’t know who Anton Babikov’s girlfriend is - we only know that the athlete is not married (unlike three brothers who already have life partners).

The young man loves to read and always takes a book with him on trips. He prefers classical literature, which is not entirely typical for an athlete. Anton Babikov's favorite writer is Hermann Hesse. In addition, Anton listens to music (very varied) and likes to watch team sports competitions.

The biathlete does not like the city and everything connected with it, and says half-jokingly that he would have become a shepherd in the village if his career in biathlon had not worked out.

And yet, the main passion in Anton’s life is his sport. Babikov loves running, and not only skiing. The biathlete is convinced that a successful person in life must set high goals and achieve them through extreme efforts. He is happy that he has found his recognition in sports and goes from victory to victory. For Babikov, they themselves matter sports victories, and not the money or social status associated with them. The athlete is very skeptical about such things. He says that he does not understand those who boast, for example, of a new prestigious car.

It would be better to run a marathon: this is a more worthy reason for pride, says Anton.

Anton Babikov's height and weight: 180 centimeters and 66 kilograms.

Anton Babikov is a famous Russian biathlete who has achieved incredible success during his career and continues to delight fans with new prizes. Currently, interest in this person is shown by the fact that over the last season, the biathlete has improved quite well and began to show impressive results. In addition, Anton Igorevich Babikov is a bright, strong and promising athlete who can become a coach in the future.

Anton Babikov was born on August 2, 1991 in Ufa. In addition to Anton, there are 3 more brothers in the family. All the boys in this family have been involved in sports since childhood. But Anton did not come to biathlon right away. At first he was interested in boxing and went to classes with his older brother. Then he became seriously interested in volleyball, basketball and skiing. Trainer skiing noticed the young man’s athletic character and advised him to join the biathlon section. Anton followed this recommendation. This is how his career in professional sports began. This is exactly how the biography of the future biathlete Anton Babikov took shape. Everyone knew that he could achieve incredible success.

First successes

Already in 2002, Anton Babikov joined the junior national biathlon team. As part of this team, in 2010 he took part in the World Junior Biathlon Championships. The competition took place in Slovakia.

Anton Babikov won bronze in the pursuit race and also received the highest award for the relay. However, this was a short-lived success. The athlete lacked professional experience, physical training and motivation. The athlete’s most important achievements will come later.

Major victories

After success in junior championships, Babikov joined the main national biathlon team. In 2013, he participated in the national championship and won first place. Personal life for biathlete Anton Babikov comes in second place, but family and relatives are always nearby. During the off-season, he spends all his free time with his family and friends. In fact, not many people have this attitude towards family values.

In 2014, Anton Babikov made a successful debut at the European Championships, where he received bronze for individual races. At that time, the Russian team had more titled athletes: Tsvetkov. Garanichev, Shipulin. However, many sports experts already at that time placed big hopes to Anton Babikov. After all, the athlete was distinguished by special hard work and perseverance, and showed excellent results in training. The desire to become first is inherent only in real athletes.

The biathlete achieved considerable results two years ago. His desire to become the best was always appreciated by coaches positive side. Despite all this, he is a team player and is ready to help his teammates also earn medals. As a result of such long work, Anton Babikov won gold at the 2015 World Cup. During the competition, he beat the favorites of this sport: Fourcade and Tsvetkov.

At competitions in 2016 as part of the European Championship, which took place in Tyumen, Babikov won 2 highest awards, thereby confirming the title of a key athlete in the national biathlon team. He always performed quite well at Russian competitions, which is why he really likes to participate in home competitions.

The successes of a young and promising athlete are regarded quite highly. He progresses with ease and strives for his best performance.

In 2017, Anton became an Honored Master of Sports. In the same year, at the Russian Championship, he won third place in the pursuit race. Of course, many dream that in the future he will become an equally eminent coach and will be able to win various medals.

Personal life

The athlete always enjoys communicating with fans and the press. Friends and acquaintances of Anton Babikov characterize him as an open, kind young man. Despite the outstanding sports achivments, Anton Babikov does not suffer from star fever, but is skeptical about his fame. Today, Anton Babikov is more interested in biathlon than in his personal life. The problem is that at the moment he is at the peak of his form and can achieve a lot, but he will always have time to find a girl. This is how he answers all questions regarding relationships.

The young man is still not married, although all his brothers have already started families. Nothing is known about the athlete’s girlfriend; Babikov does not talk about his personal life.

In his free time, the titled athlete enjoys reading classic literature and listening to music. At the same time, he gives preference to foreign authors, in particular, Hermann Hess. Anton Babikov enjoys studying different types sports: runs, cycles, loves to play football and basketball.

Anton Babikov is a biathlete, member of the Russian national team, Honored Master of Sports, world champion, three-time European champion, World Cup winner. Just four years ago, no one knew the name of the young man, but today he is among the sports elite. In the article we will get acquainted with the biography of Anton Babikov, the details of his difficult ascent to the sports podium and learn about the family and interests of the champion.

Childhood

Anton Igorevich Babikov was born on August 2, 1991 in the city of Ufa. The boy's father was an athlete. There were four sons in the family. The youngest - Anton and Roman - are twins. The future champion studied from an early age physical culture, but did not immediately decide on the sport.

The older brother was seriously interested in boxing, Anton also tried himself in this field for two years. In addition, he played football, basketball and was fond of skiing, but without much success. Since the last section was not professional enough, the coach sent the boy to biathlon.

First sporting successes

Anton Babikov began training in biathlon in 2002 under the leadership of Valery Ionovich Mischingin. The future champion showed good results while playing for the regional team. Soon, coach Alexander Kasperovich drew attention to him and began training the promising athlete. He brought him to the junior team, despite the fact that Anton did not meet the age requirements.

In 2010, Babikov achieved his first successes in biathlon. At the World Junior Championships in Slovakia, he won third place in the pursuit and gold medal in the relay race. Then there was a pause. It took the young man a long time to realize his athletic potential. Anton Babikov claims that at that time he did not yet have sufficient strength. The athlete was able to fully demonstrate his abilities only at the age of 23.

Serious achievements and failures

In 2013, Anton Babikov received the title of Russian champion in summer biathlon. But the beginning of its takeoff sports career the young man counts 2014, when he took third place in the individual race at the European Championships.

Then came new success. In 2016, at the European Championships in Tyumen, Anton won two gold medals at the same time. He was ahead of his rivals in the pursuit race and won the women's single relay, fighting in tandem with Victoria Slivko.

The athlete did not stop there. He decided to compete for the most prestigious award in biathlon - the World Cup. Below see photos of Anton Babikov at the competition.

The first attempt in 2015 in Germany ended in failure. Anton Babikov showed the forty-sixth result.

Then the athlete participated in three stages of the World Cup. The results were again unimpressive. Anton held a solid average position in the Russian team in terms of performance. In the 2015/2016 season, Anton Babikov received the Rookie of the Year award from the International Biathlon Union.

Despite some of the achievements of the Russian athlete, at that time no one could have thought that this purposeful and hardworking guy would achieve such stunning results in the near future.

Brilliant victory

At the competitions in Östersund in the 2016/2017 season, Fourcade was the favorite in the individual race. Anton Babikov found himself in very unfavorable shape at the beginning of his performance. Swedish food did not suit the athlete, which is why he started the race in a state of severe hunger.

Perhaps this spurred Russian biathlete, he quickly became one of the leaders and began to catch up with the Frenchman. In the final stage, Fourcade made two mistakes and gave Babikov a chance to win. Unexpectedly for all the fans, Anton came first and won the long-awaited gold.

The champion believes that hard work led him to success. He is confident with the help intensive training you can achieve any results, as he did himself. In the morning the athlete does exercises. This is not just a set of exercises, but a complete power training. During the day, the young man practices shooting and skiing. In the evening, Babikov improves his use of weapons. The champion then goes for a walk or meets with friends for a game of billiards. Before going to bed, he spends time reading books and writing in his diary.

Spectators were surprised by Anton Babikov's victory at the World Cup, but sports experts fully foresaw this outcome of events and consider such a final to be logical.

New achievements

After winning the World Cup, Anton Babikov won bronze at competitions in Neva Mesto, silver in Pokljuka and became third in Antholz. At the World Championships in Hochfilzen, he won gold as part of the relay team. In 2017, Anton received the title of Honored Master of Sports.

In the 2017/2018 season, he won two bronze medals at different stages of the World Cup. Took part in the Olympics in Pyeongchang under neutral flag, but failed. Of the eleven athletes, the IOC allowed only four to participate in the Olympics. According to the athlete, he made several unforgivable mistakes, the reason for which he cannot explain. For the first time in history, the Russian biathlon team did not win a single medal.

At the Russian Championship, Babikov won the pursuit race.

Anton Babikov: personal life and hobbies

The biathlete is a rather private person. There is no information about his personal life. Nothing is known about the champion's girlfriend. The only thing Anton said about himself is that at the moment he is not married, unlike his brothers, who have already managed to start families. The athlete’s personal life is not a priority, but he spends all his free time with his family.

Babikov talks more readily about his hobbies. The young man reads a lot. He takes the book with him everywhere. The athlete's favorite author is Hermann Hesse. Biathlete Anton Babikov is interested in music. He also enjoys watching various team sports competitions.

The young man is not a fan of city life. He often jokes that if his biathlon career had not worked out, he would have become a shepherd in the village.

Anton's main hobby is sports. He loves to run, and not just skiing. For Anton Babikov, biathlon is important precisely as a favorite activity. The athlete does not chase big money and high status. He is skeptical about such things. It is important for a young person to set goals and achieve them. Victory is what an athlete strives for, putting all his efforts and work into it.

Today, Anton Babikov is a strong and promising athlete who can become a successful coach in the future.
