Results of the first RFPL play-off matches. Results of play-off matches of the Russian Premier League. "Enisey" - "Anji": who plays where

For more than one year now, special places have been allocated in the Russian Premier League, which do not directly fly into the lower division, but get the opportunity to win back. These are the so-called play-off matches, the results of which determine the performance in a particular league for the next season. It’s worth talking about the junctions in more detail in order to have an idea of how they are carried out, by what rules and when to expect worst teams elites based on the results of the 2018/2019 draw.

A little history

The first play-off matches in Russian football were held in 2012. By the way, it was at that moment that the confrontation between the teams switched to the “autumn-winter” option. The latest adjustment still causes a lot of controversy and discussion. But it was impossible to do without this, looking at the example of the European championships. True, no problems arise with the joints in any season. This is really the right decision to leave only best teams in the elite Russian football. In addition, clubs from the second most important division are more motivated to spend the season at a high level and get a ticket to the Premier League.

We must consider the question of who succeeded throughout recent years show top scores at the joints, and who went to the basement.

In the 2015/2016 season, Anzhi and Kuban were identified as representatives of the Premier League. The first team managed to beat Volgar both at home and away, but Kuban was only better at home with the support of their native stands. They were the ones who had to go down to the FNL. Instead, the new representative of the elite became the Tom football club.

The next draw, when Spartak became the champion for long years, the RFPL outsiders, who settled on 13th and 14th lines respectively, were “Orenburg” and “Arsenal Tula”. Here, on the contrary, the second club was able to maintain its registration in the top division of Russian football. By the way, it is worth noting that Anji scored an identical number of points with Orenburg, but was able to save itself due to additional indicators.

Last season 2017/2018, Anji once again headed for relegation. Together with him, Amkar was listed as a pair of outsiders in the championship. Now luck was not on the side of the Makhachkala team, and they lost to the FNL representative Yenisei. Amkar remained among the elite, but literally after some time it became known that due to financial problems they were ceasing to exist. For this reason, Anzhi players who will take part in the next RFPL draw received return tickets.

That is, each season, play-offs allow FNL teams to additionally advance to the top division of the Russian football championship. This creates a kind of renewal of clubs and increased competition in the future on the European stage.

Basic Rules

Initially, teams need to play all the main matches in the domestic division. Subsequent play-offs in 2018/2019 will depend on where the team ends up in standings. They fall under the joints football clubs, which in the elite of Russian football will stop at 13 and 14 lines, and in the FNL - at 3 and 4 lines. If in the first case it is a shameful mission to play for relegation, then the teams of the second most important division almost dream of at least getting the opportunity to be in the RFPL.

Next, the team that stopped in 13th place in the Russian Premier League table will host the club that took 4th place in the FNL. Accordingly, the 3rd line of the second division will play at home against the 14th team of the elite. Only at the end of the current season can we talk about who will become an actual participant in the play-offs. Throughout the season there is a chance to prove yourself with the best side and demonstrate skills on the field.

After the first matches are played, you should wait for the return matches, which will take place on the opponents’ fields. This suggests that confrontations in two circles are mandatory. But situations may arise when even such meetings will not be enough and the RFPL and FNL football clubs will not be able to determine the best and the loser. Then additional established rules begin to apply:

If both opponents have an identical number of goals, the team that performed best in the away game will advance. This indicates the need to play at a sufficient level not only at home, but also away.

If these indicators remain identical to each other (for example, 3:2 and 2:3), the match continues for two more extra times, each 15 minutes. Here, of course, the teams will have much less strength than before, but still sometimes it allows you to find out the exact leader.

In the event of a draw at the end of the extra periods, all fans will face a penalty shootout. This will certainly allow us to finally determine the winner of the pair.

This is the only option to determine the teams that have received the right to play in the next draw in the Russian Premier League.

Team prospects

It is very difficult to talk about who will remain in the red zone at the end of the game. After all, the first round of the Russian Football Premier League has not even begun yet. But we can make assumptions and be guided by how the teams conducted their activities during the open transfer window. From the basement, “Yenisey” stands out especially, which lured quite strong players from the disbanded “Tosno” and “Amkar”. But they all played in the top division and showed decent performances on the field. The Tosno players also won the national cup in the last edition. This suggests that with a well-coordinated game, it is “Yenisei” that is one of the representatives to retain registration.

Anzhi can be named as an obvious contender for relegation. They have financial problems that did not allow them to make a decent purchase and change players in the main squad. Over the past at least three seasons, they have been constantly moving along with the outsiders, and only a happy accident allows them to once again remain in the Premier League. If not the last places, then they are simply guaranteed a place in the playoffs if nothing radically changes in the team.

Krylia Sovetov have finally returned to the RFPL. They don't have the level of play that is needed at the top. And the budget is quite simple compared to even the average representatives of the division. Well, as another contender for the play-offs we can name Ural, which has also recently been showing completely different football than they want to see in the RFPL.

It cannot be ruled out that the same “Rostov” will not fall into the seams. Of course, they are unlikely to be able to fly out due to greater experience and professionalism than the FNL representatives. But they may well end up there, given the failures of the last draw. For this reason, for specified clubs should be observed during the next season and take a closer look at the results. Only this approach will make it possible to accurately identify representatives of the football elite who do not belong here.

On May 26, 2019 the last round of the Russian Football Championship will be held. May 22 has been set as a reserve day. After this, the candidates for relegation will definitely be clear. For this reason, on May 30 and June 2, 2019, play-off matches of representatives of the RFPL and FNL will take place, following which you can meet new participants in the top division.

MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. Transitional matches for the right to compete in the Russian Federation football premier league(RFPL) season 2017/18 gave the top division a new point on the map of the country - SKA-Khabarovsk, which sensationally beat Orenburg. And the Tula Arsenal, having defeated the Krasnoyarsk Yenisei in a difficult fight, was able to remain in the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.

After the first matches, the balance of power looked different. Arsenal lost to Yenisei (1:2), which ahead of schedule took third place in the Football National League (FNL) championship after Dynamo Moscow and Tosno. “Orenburg” played a draw with “SKA-Khabarovsk” (0:0), which snatched fourth place in the FNL standings only after the final round.

Both return matches, which took place on the fields of RFPL clubs on Sunday, turned out to be dramatic. “Orenburg” had the advantage throughout the match, many times surpassed the opponent in the number of shots on goal, and in the 39th minute the team’s midfielder Blago Georgiev was unable to convert the penalty kick. However, the Khabarovsk team survived both regular time and extra time, and were more accurate in the penalty shootout - the decisive save was the save of goalkeeper Alexander Dovbnya, who parried the shot of Andrei Malykh. “Enisey” in the return match again did not look weaker than the opponent in the game, but the goal of Tula striker Igor Shevchenko in the 29th minute remained the only one.

Thus, SKA-Khabarovsk made it into the Premier League for the first time in history, and Arsenal was able to gain a foothold in it for the first time (the club debuted in the RFPL in the 2014/15 season, but was relegated to the FNL at the end of that season).

Tikhonov complained about the refereeing

After the meeting in Tula Main coach Krasnoyarsk Andrei Tikhonov made it clear that the arbitration was in favor of the opponent; The match was judged by Vladimir Seldyakov from Balashikha near Moscow. “Look at which free kick they scored on us, what kind of foul it was. Maybe the referee was in the wrong position, didn’t see the moment, but this is not a trifle, it leads to a certain result,” the TASS specialist later said. At the same time, Tikhonov noted that his players made unacceptably many mistakes “due to the fact that they were too nervous.”

Tula head coach Sergei Kiryakov, who arrived at the press conference later than his colleague, thanked his players, who gave their all on the field. He also ironically thanked all the critics, including Tikhonov, who admitted that he did not expect such a straightforward game from the Tula team.

Orenburg head coach Robert Evdokimov did not look for reasons for the failure on the side, noting the poor execution of his own chances. Team midfielder Dmitry Efremov also agrees with him: “Nobody argues, they (SKA-Khabarovsk) are great, but we had to beat them, we shouldn’t have fallen below our level. I’m not saying that we are supposedly among the premiers -league, it means we are better, this balance of power was only on paper. It’s very disappointing, but it’s probably our own fault.”

SKA-Khabarovsk coach Alexey Poddubsky noted the discipline and patience of the team players. “We knew that Orenburg plays very aggressively in home matches, but we managed to endure. Both teams had good chances to score a goal, but in the end everything was decided by the lottery - a penalty, we were luckier,” the specialist commented on the match.

Evdokimov leaves, Kiryakov is questionable

Evdokimov, who has led Orenburg since 2012 and led it to the Premier League for the first time in history, said immediately after the match that his time at the club was coming to an end. Orenburg President Vasily Stolypin said that next season the team will be faced with the task of returning to the top division. “I can’t blame anyone for the failure, everyone played with full dedication. Perhaps they burned out because everything was at stake,” he also noted.

Arsenal general director Dmitry Balashov said that Kiryakov managed to complete the task for the season, but his further work at the club will be discussed at the board of trustees, which will be held in the coming days. The specialist himself, in a conversation with a TASS correspondent, refused to answer the question whether he wanted to stay. “My contract ends on May 31, there is something to discuss with the management, there is something to talk about,” the coach said. The specialist, in particular, noted that he does not want the situation of last summer to be repeated, when the team was filled with free agents.

General Director of SKA-Khabarovsk Oleg Flegontov said that Poddubsky will definitely retain his post. He also noted that the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Vyacheslav Shport, has already promised the team full support, including financial support, which, in particular, will help solve problems with the stadium, which does not meet the requirements of the RFPL.

Tikhonov said he has yet to discuss a contract extension with the club's management. When asked whether he would like to remain as head coach of the Krasnoyarsk team, Tikhonov replied: “I would like to work where they set big goals. I want to live and devote myself to football.”

The official admission of SKA-Khabarovsk to the RFPL, and Orenburg to the FNL, should occur in early June, when league meetings are scheduled to take place.

"Yenisey" won confident victory over Anzhi (3:0), practically resolving the issue of the historic first entry into the Premier League. “Tambov” lost in Perm and could have conceded more than two goals from “Amkar” (0:2). “Sport Day by Day” - about the first play-off matches between the Russian Premier League and the FNL.

“Yenisey” - “Anzhi”: who plays where?

Krasnoyarsk "Yenisey" has been among the FNL favorites since the beginning of the season. With care top scorer Andrey Kozlov to Orenburg, Dmitry Alenichev’s team lost a little in quality, which is why they lost leadership to the same Orenburg and Wings of the Soviets, but retained their corporate style.

Alenichev’s “Spartak” did not show even half of the beauty that “Yenisei” is now showing. “Walls” and “runs” - this is what the Krasnoyarsk team lives by, showing football from the red and white 90s. “Anji” in the Krasnoyarsk arena looked nothing like a representative of the RFPL. Having conceded two goals in the first half, the Makhachkala residents began to sort things out among themselves right on the field. Things didn’t come to blows, but regular mistakes in simple situations demonstrated that everything was bad in the team. Alexander Budakov's injury only worsened the situation. 21-year-old Vladimir Sugrobov managed to make a mistake in each of Yenisei’s three scoring attacks, but it wasn’t just Anzhi’s defense that was groaning.

During the break, Vadim Skripchenko changed one of those who tried the most on the field - Vladimir Poluyakhtov. Pavel Yakovlev, who came on as a substitute, did not come up with any ideas for an attack. Either the Makhachkala residents got lost in unusual conditions, or the coaches didn’t watch Enisey’s matches at all, but Dmitry Alenichev’s team effortlessly defeated Anzhi in the first match for access to the RFPL. The fans on the only stand of the arena rejoiced, as if they had already reached the Premier League, the football players with smiles were preparing to receive bronze medals for third place in the FNL, which they were awarded immediately after the game with Anzhi. Only Alenichev and Yegor Titov were sad, thinking about what to tell the players so that they would maintain the right attitude for the return game.

“Amkar” - “Tambov”: Talalaev’s team was enough for the half

Unlike Anzhi, Amkar did not plan to give the initiative to their opponent from the FNL. “Tambov” is not “Yenisei”: it does not have the sufficient level of skill necessary to resist the RFPL clubs. Of course, in the first division Andrei Talalaev's team showed interesting football and deservedly took fourth place this season, but this is not enough to play in the Premier League.

In almost every episode there were banal mistakes of Tambov players, who directly said that the team was not yet ready to switch to a more high level. Even SKA-Khabarovsk showed a more confident game in the play-offs with Orenburg, but the Khabarovsk team showed the dullest football ever history of the RFPL, having pre-registered for the FNL.

The Tambov players held back the not very skillful attacks of the Permians until they ran out of strength. As soon as the fresh Mikhail Kostyukov entered the field, he gave an assist to Janusz Gol, cutting off several Tambov defenders at once. After 20 minutes, Sergei Balanovich ran away from the opponent's standing defense and skillfully rolled the ball past Denis Vavilin - perhaps one of the Tambov players with Premier League experience.

It’s nice that the club is steadily moving in development: first it fights for the “joints”, then it gets into the “four” and hires the first charter in the club history to fly to Perm. However, it is too early for Tambov to enter the Premier League, because it simply cannot match it, at least in terms of playing qualities.
